The 9th largest manufacturer of electronic products, Toshiba Corporation is based in Tokyo Japan, a country renown for superior products. Toshiba computers are no exception. In 1939 Shibaura merged with Tokyo Electric, a company that had specialized in electrical consumer products since 1890. The new Tokyo Shibaura Electric Company became known simply as “Toshiba”. The popular name stuck and was officially adopted by the firm in 1978.
